Is it the only thing between you and your tertiary course?
A "searching for oneself" thing where you test just how capable you are as a person?
Similarly, something like a game where you want to see your personal best and get the "high score"?
An achievement for your parents and you to feel good about?
Just a string of figures that you couldn't care less about?

I take the ENTER with a grain of salt. I know some brilliantly intelligent people who've attained marks far below their potential... and I know .95ers who I'd never class as geniuses. Personally, I think that the rank shifts the focus away from doing your personal best and learning to choosing subjects that scale well.
