conversions.....IMPORTANT for Structures students

anyone can note the:

Conversion from: cm^2 to m^2
                       and vice versa

from m^2 to mm^2
       mm^2 to m^2

from cm^2 to mm^2
       mm^2 to cm^2

ie.
1m² = 1000000mm² or 1x10^6mm²
1mm² = 0.000001 or 1x10^-6

1cm² = 100mm²
1mm² = 0.01cm²

1m² = 10000cm²
1cm² = 0.0001m²

Easy to remember like this:




Now if you wanna convert from one to the other just use the 'equations' above! You can treat 'cm', 'km', 'mm' as actual variables in the above equations (it's a bit naughty but you can get away with it).

If you want to convert AREAS, simply square each side of the equation and continue as normal.
If you want to convert VOLUMES, cube each side of the equation and continue as normal.

The data sheet will come with a whole list of these prefixes, so you don't have to remember them.
