How to juggle activities in year 12?
« on: February 06, 2013, 06:27:17 pm »

I'm struggling to juggle my time efficiently.
I don't want to brag but my life currently consists of:
5, 3/4 subejcts. English, Psychology, Biology, Economics, IT:SD
Rowing, 4 times a week (Full rowing boys at my school do 8 sessions)
Girlfriend
18th parties
Seeing mates out of school
Work (part time at a pharmacy)
Gaming, an hour to 2 on weekends
and I need time for sleep, as I function badly with little sleep

I'm really struggling to juggle everything.
I'm thinking of giving most of the 18th's a miss and quitting gaming.

What should I try drop?
And any suggestions on organisation?
Or any other words of advice?
thanks

Sounds like you really need to make yourself a timetable.
I made one last year and i found that I actually had a lot more time than I thought.

Also you need to think for yourself what you want to achieve this year. From your sig you want to get a 90+ ATAR and thats going to take some work. So maybe you need to think how much you want this and how much you are willing to give. Remember its only one year.
That being said dont stop everything just to study, you will burn out and not feel motivated at all to do any work.

One other thing I did was if I knew I had a party friday/saturday night I would do extra work that i would originally on a saturday/sunday eg. instead of 4 hours i did 5 or 6 hours.

Just think about which one is more important to you. Hope that helps somewhat. :)

For gaming, I would say you should play on holidays. That's what I did... But then you will have no passion about games after VCE. That's just my experience..never quit gaming though

A lot of mates of mine let go of their part-time work for a year to focus on year 12.

Yeah this may work for you friedbacon. Because you have a lot of rowing and it doesnt sound like you want to quit that or stop your social activities.
You can always get another job.

I'm also thinking of dropping my Job, to be honest pay isn't that great and I won't have to rush to work straight after school on some days.

Yea I totally agree with Michak!
It's all about making a timetable and prioritising what needs to be done!
Just make sure you stick to what you've planned out for the day and i think you'll be fine! Be sure yo timetable in your social events too, with small breaks in between subjects! Good luck  :)

Does anyone have a good Timetable template I could use. I currently use a huge year planner, but a day to day and hour to hour planner would help substantially
