Do you have to attend them ? Is there an attendance requirement you have to meet ? I live over 2.5 hrs away from uni and with train timetables will be having to travel close to 6 hrs a day there and back, so I was thinking of not going to any lectures but only my pracs and tutes and making my timetable have all these on two days, the subjects I am doing are calculus 2 linear Albergra physics 1 and Introductory mIrcoeconomics, so my question is am I able to watch my lectures at home online and only go to uni two days a week to attend my pracs and tutes

Thanks for any help :)

Calculus 2 is not recorded and for Intro. Micro the lecturer writes on the board/projecting thing so you won't be able to follow it that well. Physics 1 can be learnt from your book if you like that sort of thing, and Linear Algebra has almost perfect lecture capture since it records what the guy is actually writing down as he talks about it.

It's possible to attend no lectures and pass, but I wouldn't advise it for a 1st year student. In this time period, you learn which lectures are good to go to, and which you can be afford skip, which is a useful skill to acquire. I understand your timetable is shit because of your location, but you should really be trying to attend as many lectures as possible, at least for the 1st semester.

Thanks for the help, how useful did you find the calculus 2 lectures and is there a way I can just purchase the lecture notes or something or do you highly recommend attending as many as possible, thanks again for the help I really appreciate it :)

You can't "purchase" lecture notes, but you can make friends and take their notes instead.

I went through Arts at Monash attending < 10% of lectures and managed a HD average, but in all honesty you should attend as many lectures as you can in your first semester at university. It's a bad habit to get into from the get go since you can't gauge which lectures are the right ones to skip.

You can actually purchase lecture notes from the Bookstore. Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra have their own bounded notes which are absolutely necessary to buy.

Intro Micro and Physics 1 have lecture notes online in the LMS which you can print per lecture.

Calc is a must attend. It's so hard to follow if you even miss one lecture and they don't hae capture recording.

Some lecturers can be p.nasty and actually turn off lecture recordings for 15 minutes to give out assignment/exam tips. My 2nd yr macro lecturer did that and went through a "possible" (it was on the exam) question that I reckon 99.99% of the cohort would have no idea on how to begin if he hadnt linked a couple macro models together for us.
