AFC1000: Help Please
« on: February 28, 2013, 11:46:15 pm »

I'm doing the Principles of Accounting and Finance unit this semester. Just need to ask if the lectures for this unit are recorded online and if not, if listening to the AFF1000 unit lectures would be the same (if they are even recorded)? Both are not on MULO yet.
Also read the unit guide and it says 'Students are expected to attend ALL lectures and tutorials'. Does that mean I have to attend the lectures?
Thank you.

you dont have to attend the lectures, I think Monash is just giving you a strong recommendation to do so but there is no penalty

tutorial attendance is worth 10% of the overall grade so I would recommend going if you want duh HD

not sure about MULO and AFC1000 so can't help you there

Thanks. Yeah I won't be able to make it to one the lectures, so I'm just worried its not going to be recorded online. Do you know of anyone else that might know please?

there's 2 of part 1 and part 2 lectures held per week for AFC1000 so if you miss your part 1 lecture you can attend the other one to make up for it, just pointing it out there

I did that when I got lazy and gave a lecture a miss then I got lazier and missed most of them altogether dont do that kids...

Yeah I'm aware of that but it doesn't work with my current timetable.
AFC1000 seems like a very popular unit (looking at the amount of tutorial classes).
So it makes sense to have an online recording of it.
So worried :(

you won't be able to get access to AFF1000 lectures unless u have a caulfield monash account.

can self learn AFC1000 pretty ez, especially if you did VCE accounting. but you have to put time into it, it's not an overnight thing.

Essentially quite a few concepts to learn, but they are relatively straightforward with a little bit of practice. fyi VCE accounting is summed up in the first 6 weeks.

I can give you resources, pm me your email

edit: all i want you to do is promise me that if you get Barry Burges for your tutor, during the week 10 lecture/tute for AFC1000, give him a mandarine at the end of lecture/tute.

If i get access to AFF1000, are they the same as AFC1000?
With AFC1000 having the harder exam?

yea they'd be the same, but don't worry about it. see how you go with the material yourself first, and if it's proving to be too difficult, they have this thing called 'accounting workshops' or something, where you take your questions into a building and tutors/students are there who will work with you/help you.

don't stress too much, your dilemma is really minor! :)
Heck I had a friend who didn't go to any lectures, went to maybe 4 tutes (afc1000 tutes are compulsory to get a 10% attendance mark or something) and he got a D. Granted he did vce accounting, but still, lectures aren't that great. just try to attend at least the last two or three because they give out exam hints.

No, it appears at this stage that neither AFC1000 nor AFF1000 are recorded. If you'd like confirmation on whether they will be recorded or not, your best bet is to email the unit coordinator and simply ask politely.

you won't be able to get access to AFF1000 lectures unless u have a caulfield monash account.

This is incorrect.

Okay thanks, I have been going through the first couple of chapters; really enjoying it. Just don't want this minor thing getting in the way of doing well.

Just to clarify an above point... If you have UNITXXXX lecture Part 1, and then Part 2 later in the week - are these the same lectures? (Do you only need to attend one if them?)
I was under the impression Part 2 would be further information relating to Part 1.

If its Part 1 and 2 you need to go to both, if its 'Stream' then they are the same
