Hi,
Whilst selecting a repertoire for VCE solo music Performance 3/4(piano) will I be disadvantaged if I do not select a Baroque piece and choose instead a classical, Romantic and early twentieth century piece for Works prior to 1910  + Australian composer piece and Prokofiev (for works post 1910) to get a mark above 45?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Can someone who has completed Music Piano Solo Performance in earlier years and has achieved a raw score greater than 40 please put down your programme to enable me to choose a programme. I would much appreciate some advice.
Thanks

I did music in 2006 so take this with a grain of salt as I'm pretty sure the requirements are different now...

Sonata in C 1st mvt (HOBXVI:50) - Haydn
either Shepherd's Hey or Handel in the Strand, I don't remember which - Percy Grainger (Aus composer)
I'm in the Mood for Love - Jimmy McHugh/Dorothy Fields, arr. Andre Previn
Sonata in E major K162 - Scarlatti
3 pieces from Six Little Pieces for Piano - Schoenberg
Prelude No. 2, Book 2 "Dead Leaves" - Debussy

I don't think you should feel compelled to have a piece from every single period - as you can see I didn't have a romantic period work. Classical, romantic and 20th century sounds like a decent variety.

The program for the Music Performance end-of year performance examination for Pianoforte
must consist of at least four works. The program must include at least:
- two works which are examples of music composed since 1910
- one work from either the Baroque or Classical categories
- one work from the Romantic/post-Romantic, early twentieth century category.

You seem to have met these requirements so you are fine!

Thank you ninwa- that was a great help and especially since you got a score of 50. Could you also let me know what brand of grand pianos do they have for VCE performances if you choose to play on a grand. Thank you.

I think the piano I played on was a Boston, which are made by Steinway so it was a beautiful piano :)
