Accreditation period for Spec

So I was looking at the Study Design for Spec and going through an old Study guide I found in the library for it and in both of them they have explicit mention of functions of the form: for m,n = 1, 2, but I haven't seen any of this stuff in class or in the essentials, is it still in the Study Design, because on the VCAA website under Spec it still states that this is relevant material.

Isn't this just a part of graphing of rational functions? (ie using addition of ordinates)
Or am I completely mistaken?

Yeah but then there's all this oblique asymptote stuff, as in asymptotes that are equations of straight lines (not y = a or x = b).
For example, the graph of has an oblique asymptote at y = 2x, and a vertical asymptote at x = 0.

There's also an exercise (6G I think) in the essentials book if you have that.

The version of the study design on the VCAA website is always the latest version, so if it says it's relevant, you should generally assume that it is.

But yeah oblique asymptotes etc. are reasonably common questions on exams, you can probably expect that you'll come across it in class soon enough. From memory Essentials and Heinemann covered this stuff, so that means that it is in all three textbooks.
