I missed my tutorial last week so i cant do this assignment as a group which is advised, instead i have to do it on my own.

Just looking at it now i pretty much have no idea on 3/4s of it. I dont even have the text book and i dont understand anything.

Everyone else will be sharing answers and getting high marks except me :(

brb killing myself.

Get a textbook, revise your lectures and tutorial questions, go to a consultation.

If you really have the mindset to get high mark, you will definitely get it. It's only the 3rd week and it's definitely possible to catch up especially it is only a first year subject.

10% is quite a lot (atleast it is to me). Just do whatever you can and hand it in rather than getting a zero. Try a consultation with a tutor. Depends on the tutor, but they would usually give out some really nice tips especially it's the first assignment for a first year subject.

If you could get into the course, I'm sure you have the ability to at least pass the assignment.

Dont get in the habit of missing tutes or lectures. It is an extremely slope for most kids. If you dont go to lecs or tutes - you have a massive chance of failing subjects --> loss of confidence as you fall behind which can lead to dropping out. I know a lot of 95-98ers dropping out (kicked out) due to the uni lifestyle messing up their grades.

Bad habits form very quickly and are hard to break.

Get the textbook, go on to lms and listen to the lectures (hopefully QM do provide the lecs online) and try and see if they will provide you with the answers you need. QM is not a hard subject provided you listen to the lectures and not miss tutes (isnt there a minimum participation requirement anyway?).

Nobody on here will be willing to help you unless you put in the effort yourself.

I did QM1 this time last year, and remember freaking out about it big time! And honestly the first one is probably the worst of all the QM assignments, they do get (marginally!) better. I don't know how different it is this year, but I think last year it had 3 qs, 2 of them quite doable if you read the textbook and listen to your lectures. Not easy and will require you to think but you can definitely give them a shot. One was ridiculously hard and people struggled.
Try and see if you can find a group to join, it helps heaps, people might be sending about emails trying to find others? Otherwise give it a shot, trust me as long as you give it a shot you will pass. And as others have suggested a consult may be the way to go too :) Goodluck!

I just had a look at the assignment shown to me by a couple of very distressed 1st yrs...and all I say is GL - you will need it. Doing 3rd yr econometrics atm and still had serious trouble doing the proofs.

Is the QM co ordinator a sadist by any chance.

i'm doing that assignment and i wanna kms too

here are my (shit) tips though

q1) read lectures 1&2 carefully, making sure you understand the different types of sampling. play around with the excel stuff. try to imagine you're doing this research in real life. then literally just answer the dot points directly

q2) after playing with the excel examples from lectures 1&2 this should be straightforward. you can google how to do stuff in excel if you don't know. like, i googled "how to find median in excel"

q3) this is common sense. picture this scenario irl

q4) ask someone who got raw 45+ in methods or someone with a phd in maths lol

for question 3 how o you do b) with upper limits etc i try follow the lecture but i get nothing?

Hey, what you do for that is type in the cells:

Bins
1
2
3
4
5
etc
etc
etc

Then when you click Histogram in Data Analysis the box that pops up has an option for Bin Range. Click on the little image in the corner of that Bin Range box and highlight your bins that you've typed. Done!

Anyone know how to do question 4???? Someone gave me a photocopy of the answers but I still don't understand them.

pm the answers pls
