ILR exam???

(1/1)

platypus:
Can anyone tell me what the exam for ILR Monash is like?? So far we've been going through the Australian legal system and the role of the various courts etc, but I still have no idea what kind of exam prep work I should be doing in addition to my weekly readings  :-\

Will the exam just ask you to explain an act or some process in the legal system? Or is it like contracts where you're given a case and asked to advise the client by applying the relevant legal principle??

Niskii:
I'm doing ILR this semester too so I can't say anything from personal experience, but the past exams from 2005 onwards can be found here (search law1101), and I think some of them have been included at the back of the Faculty Notes as well. As far as I know the course is still the same so I guess looking through them would give you a good idea of what to expect! :)

jibba:
ILR exam is all statutory interpretation
The class test is a multiple choice test about the Australian Legal System. I remember there were also some facts about the judges, like who was the first female High Court judge. Stuff about Ratio v Obiter and so forth
