whatever you do, do not drop anything! One person dropped their test tube and another dropped their final product, just be careful like in the first experiment. Makes me sad when i hear that crash of someone dropping their product they spent a lot of time making.

When adding the hot ethanol dont add too much, just enough to dissolve.

What ever you do, do't touch the top of the TLC plate, the demonstrator will make you start again lol.

Dry to make sure your product looks like glossy plates, it is not supposed to be a powder.

Re crystalisation can take a while, be prepared to stare at it for 15 minutes while adding one drops of water at a time lol.

Do not take someone elses TLC plate and hand it in otherwise you will look stupid to the demonstrator. Someone did this to me and we had to go through all the people who handed it in already looking for mine lol.

Thats all i can think of right now. Have fun with it, i was a lot more relaxed during this one as i knew what to do from the mistakes f my first prac. Dont worry too much about yueld, for my first prac i got 41% and my demonstrator said it was supposed to be that low and i got full marks for it lol. Have fun

do the procedure beforehand, saves a lot of time and your not rushed. Dont have to right up the procedure for TLC, only the first part

thanks. just about the write up, in experiment 2 i remember i had to include a diagram depicting the chemical reaction(reactants to products) taking place. in which section of the write up is it best to include this diagram?
