Core data Sac question

Hey guys,

I'm currently doing the core data analysis SAC in class and I came across a question which stumped me a bit. The question is in two parts and goes something like so:

a) draw a 3-median line for a set of data data

b) why would a 3-median regression line be more suitable for this data?

I drew the 3-median line without any hassle but I don't really understand why a 3-median regression would be better. I'm fairly certain both methods are suitable if the data have outliers and I can't think of any other reason as to why.

Cn someone help me?

Yeah, this, and it's because the least squares regression line is affected by outliers so it would be better to use 3 median line. (this is an explanation not the answer)

While the least squares regression line is affected by outliers, the three-median regression line is not affected by outlying values. Therefore, because of the presence of outliers in the data set, the three-median line will be more suitable.

Hey guys,
I am new to this so sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area :S
I was just wondering if any of you have the solutions to the 2008 Further Maths Exam 1 Insight exam?
I would love to know what you get for the core questions (Q1-13), here is the link to the exam:

It's against the rules for anyone to provide a set of answers for the exam because of copyright law. If they didn't want to get banned, I guess they'd have to send it to you in a pm and no one would ever know, but that would also be illegal, and breaking the law is wrong, kids.

HAHAHAHAHA - definitely something you'll want to learn before the exam ;p

Edit: That's okay, I removed my answers because I made too many very, very silly rookie errors ;p
