Unit 1+2

Is it vital to have taken unit 1 and 2 to perform well in unit 3&4?
I am considering dropping a subject and taking it up from scratch in year 12.

Thanks,
Daniel.

I did 1/2 and this year i'm doing 3/4 (I'm in year 11).  There are a lot of people who skip 1/2 and go straight to 3/4. In year 12, you cover a lot that is done in 1/2 so really, I think you'd be fine if you're willing to put in the work to make sure you've caught up.

On this topic, I have decided to jump straight into HHD 3,4. What do I need to study from 1,2 to ensure that I catch up and am not disadvantaged?

Thanks :)

Health is boring as bat shit. I did 1+2 but dropped it. So happy. :)
My memory is very shady but heres what I remember:

Unit 1 was about stages of the lifespan. ie prenatal, infant, child, adolescent, and you had to know the specific time periods, such as adolescence being between ages 12-18.

Unit 2 was predominantly about Medicare and there was also some information on nutrition, which you may have covered in PE or may just know already, like I did. Nutrition also took into account the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating or whatever that shit was called.

The most important things which was brought up in almost every class and every SAC which you will need to know inside out are the different types of health and different types of development.

Development defines the gradual changes in a persons physical, emotional, intellectual and social states and abilities. Blah Blah Blah. Saw this so much. Types of Development are obviously Physical, Emotional, Intellectual and Social. 4 types.

Meanwhile health describes the current status of a person, not simply the absence of illness or disease but also the mental health. Types of Health are Social, Emotional and Physical. 3 types. THERE IS NO INTELLECTUAL HEALTH.

Thats about it. I hope you enjoy it 9000 times more than I did. It was just so boring, monotonous, repetitive, etc. If you know the textbook inside out you cant go wrong. Its an easy subject to do well in.

I may be in the minority but i love health! Units 1 & 2 were the easiest/bludgest units ever in history lol. I hardly put any effort in and scored a's and a+'s the whole year.

For those who haven't done 1 & 2 you need to know the basics like amirite? said. You should know the difference between 'health' and 'development'  and the types of each. In year 12 there is a deeper knowledge of nutrition and what food benefits the body etc. Need to know about vitamins etc.

Seriously, i think you guys will catch up fine. It's easy. Just know the developments of different stages of the lifespan and you'll be good.
