Marks dropped in 2nd year, WHAT ?

In first year I got very good marks for most subjects except chemistry, this year I've gotten low marks for even the subject I like the most zoology. I'm lead to believe that this is due to a harsher marking scheme. Has anyone else gotten a similar experience?

I don't go to La Trobe, but a lot of my friends I know (myself included) can relate. I think because the expectation is that first-year is all about getting you settled into university life/learning the basics. And now, in second year onwards, the expectation is that you have nailed down the fundamentals and so the quality of your work should be of a higher standard. That's just my thoughts.

This, in science anyway, second year is when you really specialise down and a lot of the "actual" learning begins. A lot of first year science subjects are insanely broad.

Of course there's going to be random fluctuations between easiness/hardness and how they mark but thats just how it is. Everyone kinda drops the ball in uni, it seems to really dip around the lowest second year or 1st semester third year as well.
