Preparation over the year for Chemistry 3/4 without 1/2

Hello sciency people!
I have been thinking of picking up 3/4 Chemistry for my year 12, it seems to be that it will open up a lot more uni courses with the rest of my subjects. Just the reason why I am not doing 1/2 this year is because of a clash in my timetable with Further 3/4.

We're almost half way through the year now, what sort of preparation can I do over the rest of the year without actually being in class, to get me ready for 3/4 chemistry?

I am trying to get my hands on a Chemistry 1/2 textbook to look through and work through, should I read through and do all the questions? do I actually need to do everything or do only some topics go into 3/4 chem? Ideas?

It's not something that's common or allowed lightly. Transfer into Unit 2 if your school will let you. While Chemistry 1/2 is very well structured with almost everything taught being useful to 3/4, it can be done with adequate Unit 2 knowledge. My teacher was not willing to take onboard anybody who had missed Unit 2, but would take someone who had missed Unit 1, was conscientious and learnt the Unit 1 material in their own time (possibly with the help of a tutor). Some of the Unit 1 AOS 1 stuff in Chemistry is not essential either. Good luck! :)

I can honestly say not to worry about it at all. Read through all the chapters in the year 11 textbook about stoichiometry and complete the questions and you'll be set for next year. That's really the only prior knowledge that I found to be somewhat essential to year 12 (some of it isn't necessarily covered during year 12, and you might have a question on a SAC requiring you to use one of the gas laws for example, which is covered in 1&2 but not 3&4).

Of course learning everything else would be great but for the most part everything else that you need in year 12 that was taught in year 11 is covered again as part of the units 3&4 course.

hahah good luck. I'm currently Year 11 doing Unit 1 and 2 Chemistry and only averaging B+ in sacs, whereas every other subject I average a and a+.
There's defiantly a lot of content, and I've heard that Unit 1 and 2 chemistry is important for unit 3 and 4, so get your hands on that book!
Personally, as of now, how I've finished unit 1, I believe the hardest topics are the mole and bonding and intermolecular forces.
But who knows you might be a chemistry genius.
Good Luck!
