how would you incorporate letters into your analysis? are there any particular phrases i could use?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'letters'?  ???

If there are letters accompanying the piece you are analysing, I would recommend taking components of the letter that support the contention of the writer or rebut it. So basically if you are discussing how this writer thinks that pie is an awesome food, then you can say that 'esteemed professional pie eater Joe believes that pie is a brilliant food' (take the direct quote).
