One major or two?

I will be starting B.comm in 2nd semester this year and I just want to understand more about the difference between them.

I am looking to do management by itself or both management and marketing. I think it is beneficial to have two majors and is easier to get a job rather than single. But my major CONCERN is that by doing this 2 major, it will take up more time and my concentration is more divided, hence I am less likely to score well in comparison of doing one subjects.

Let me know what you guys think and do correct me if im wrong. Thanks!

Don't do Management by itself. Marketing + Management is a better combination since Management doesn't have an accreditation organisation and is not going to get you to become a "manager" straight out of university.

From the perspective of an Arts student.

A major is just 8 subjects in a particular sequence. You do the same number of subjects (24 overall) if you do one major or two. It's just that if you do two majors you're doing 8 subjects in two particular areas of study (two level 1 subjects, three level 2 subjects and three level 3 subjects).

So the difficulty doesn't really change. In fact it could be argued it's easier because you're accumulating knowledge in that one field and just doing more subjects relating to that field, as opposed to doing electives from other fields.

Majors don't go on your transcript, to clarify. The only reason we do majors at all is a) because we have to do at least one according to UoM undergrad degree rules b) because they're a pre-req for certain courses. Otherwise it's just synonymous with doing 8 subjects in a certain area of study.

...majors sound so different in Arts compared to Science @_@
All we have to do (potential prerequisites notwithstanding) is 4 Level 3 subjects in the area of study (with a few combination rules).
I'm guessing Commerce majors are similar to Arts, though?

They're very similar, yes. Although majors can be different. For example economics, geography and psychology majors are different to other Arts majors. I think it's because they're run by different faculties (Commerce and Science).
