Is there any possibility of marks increasing?

I scored a 69 in CHEM10003, is there anyway I will get one more mark by the 12th? Any reason that would happen? Has this ever happened to anyone?

I've heard of marks changing, but it's very, very infrequent. You should assume that your 69 is going to stay a 69. Congrats anyway!

I got 79 for Chemistry 1 when I did it and was really hoping my score would go up by 1. Especially because my demonstrator used to say that if we turn up to all our pracs and do the ILTs on time the subject coordinator would boost peoples scores so they get a higher grade. But nothing happened and that was my lowest for that semester  I think she said that so we would all turn up to all our pracs.

Not to be a downer, but maybe that was your boosted score? 79 is a great score, don't stress about it!

Hmm... Maybe. Chemistry was never my best subject anyway. But I was told by my tutor in second semester that the coordinator only boosts people's scores when they are about to fail.

Can scores go down? Like if you scraped a H1, H2A, H2B, H3 or even a Pass?

It happened a couple of semesters ago to someone doing a Neuroscience subject where their score went from 81 to 79 because the faculty screwed the bell curve I believe. Remember that this is just hearsay from Atarnotes results threads if I recall correctly.

There is a possibility of having your mark for an individual assignment adjusted but you need to organise a meeting with your tutor/coordinator and preferrably very soon after you received the assignment back (i.e., not at the end of semester). Even then, there is no guarantee.

In one assignment worth 30% of the final subject mark, I received a far lower-than-expected mark and met with the coordinator to discuss it further. He gave me an ultimatum: take a 5% increase or have another tutor re-mark the assignment and risk receiving an even lower (or potentially higher) mark. I took the 5% increase and that ended up making the difference between a H1 and H2A, haha. As I said, the key is to contact them early and be genuinely concerned, rather than act like you're entitled to a higher mark or you need the marks to gain entry to X postgraduate degree. That won't get you anywhere.

For exams, the chance of having your mark redadjusted is very slim unless the coordinator made a genuine error or there was a mistake in the exam question itself.

I went from 83 for Inter Micro when it first came out to an 89 which changed today. Yes, it does change. Don't know why it did.

My Physics 1 score went from 92 to 97. I guess they can change.

If you're ever sure that you deserve a higher mark than what you receive, always get an appointment to review your exam.

Also, don't be discouraged by unsupportive peers who simply think you didn't do as well in the exam as you think you did.
