Genotype is the set of alleles present within a cell that code for particular traits.

Alleles are different forms or variants of a particular gene. So the fact that a gene can exist in more than one form alludes to alleles.

When it asks for the probability, should I express it in a decimal or percentage?

During the winter, there's less light (obviously), so that means that less photosynthesis can occur. So rather than wasting a whole heap of energy on making pigments, some trees just ditch leaves, so they're making less pigments because there are less leaves to make them in, others just reduce the amount of pigment produced. As you can see, the amount of pigments decreases, so it's probably not shedding. It's just so it can be more efficient. Fair enough though, it is a shit question.

ahkk so There is insufficient sunlight during Winter and excess chlorophyll, and this wastes the organism's resources. So throughout Autumn, Species X will retain their leaves and reduce the amount of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b produced.

Wait the answer says:
Both of:
• X sheds its leaves
• the leaves change colour as the pigments are broken down or moved out of the leaves.

I don't understand  :-\

Well, think about trees in real life - in autumn, most of them turn red, and then in winter, they shed their leaves. So they change colour, then the leaves are shed.

Usually the trees that don't shed their leaves are evergreens which, as their name suggests, remain green during winter. So their pigmentation doesn't really change - and of course this type of tree would usually live somewhere that doesn't get very cold/dark.

Tree X is not an evergreen.

I thought trees shed their leaves in Autumn?
so species X reduces the amount of pigment it produced then sheds its leaves.
So a tree will either sheds leaves and reduce pigment produced or retain leaves and continue producing same amount of pigment?

Nah Autumn is when you get that reddish color of leaves (if primary school education serves me right... lol)

But yeah, as the girl at the rock show said if it's not changing color it means it won't shed it's leaves in winter, meaning it has to be evergreen (aka. green all year round)

Should I define the gene pool as:

the total number of genes of every individual in a population

                         OR
All the genetic information of every individual in a population

I'd define it as the total number of alleles in a population.
