Current Year 10 - Picking subjects

G'day,

I am currently a year 10 student pretty much just seeking a bit of additional guidance from an array of people with experience with VCE. Next week I have to submit my VCE Subject Selection form, quite premature as I received it this Wednesday - giving us a week to decide is a bit of a joke to be fair, but anyway any help/contribution to my choices would be of great appreciation.

I know for sure, I am doing normal English and Further - I do not enjoy Methods maths and the syllabus is unappealing plus time required etc.
I am interested in commerce/law subjects and I am keen to do; Global Politics, Legal and Economics.
Leaving space for 1 subject that I need to do a Unit 3/4 on next year in Year 11.

I have limited my Year 11 unit 3/4 options down to - Revolutions (most likely), Geography or Business Management.
Some comparisons and overall inside information from experience on either of the above 3 and other subjects I have pretty much locked in would be top notch.

Cheers

Just moved this to a different board :) We tend to use the Personal Support Hub for matters more related to its name :P

Re: your query

I don't have any experience with either of those subjects, but my advice is to pick the one you're most interested in! :)

Best of luck and welcome to AN :)

Methods might not be easy or appealing but it's a must-do subject in my opinion. Especially when you enjoy commerce subjects, if you intend to further you study in commerce at tertiary level, Methods is the other prerequisite apart from English, at least at Melbourne and Monash. I have seen too many people who didn't do Methods at all or dropped it half-way through Yr 12 couldn't get into the course they wanted and trust me, it's not funny.

As Methods is a prereq for Commerce at most universities, give the 1/2 a go at least. If you decide it's not for you, you can always do any of the other three subjects. As m.Chemia stated, you don't want to miss out on a course because you didn't even give it a go.

Good luck :)

G'day mate,

I'm doing almost identical subjects to you, or have at least done them previously.

Currently, I'm doing History (20th century - revolutions is only YR 12+10), English, Further (dropping), Psychology, Business Management (3/4) and Economics, and will be dropping further for global politics next year.

If I were you, I'd probably do business management in YR 11 like I'm currently doing. It's a relatively easy subject, you just need to remember a whole lot of definitions, but definitely pick up history as a 1/2 or at least 3/4, as well as global politics. Business Management would give you a grasp on the difficulties of a YR 11 subject, despite it being an easier subject on the VCE curriculum.
