Writing Habits

So I'm a person who instead of 'dotting' my I's, I have a tendency of 'circling' them.
I'm so used to doing this, however this year my English teacher told me to try and change this habit of mine, because it apparently gave a bad impression to the assessors when they marked my Sacs or something? Anyways just wondering if anyone else has this habit, or if anyone knows why this is bad?

I don't see how that's a problem, examiners very lenient on bad handwriting in general from what I've heard from my teacher who's an examiner herself so I don't see why they'd care about circling your i's haha.

I know a girl who did this and she got a 50 in English :P

I don't think it matters, the examiner will probably just think you're female (yet to see a male circle their I's haha) which is no disadvantage at all!

tbh circling your Is seems clearer as you can actually see the circles. Nothing wrong with it!

Strangely my English teacher said the exact same thing to me last year because of the way i write my 'a's (which is the same as this text instead of an o looking thing with a line down it!)

We recently did an exercise in class where we were asked to sit in a circle and pass our practice SACs around so that we could help others and also gain an insight into other ways to go about essay writing and I was literally struggling to get through half of the content because the handwriting was so terrible. I just don't know how the teachers and the examiners do it. =_=

yeah sometimes I can hardly read my own writing and my teachers are somehow able to extract meaning from it... it's amazing

Seems like it could only aid the clarity of your writing. Better than me. Sometimes I literally forget to cross my I and T.

Well there is nothing wrong with circling neither it is grammatically incorrect I still use it during my law essay writing where you know each and every wrong comma can cause a great big deal for the jury. In fact it is still used as a proper English tab esp in novels, as long as you are not circling it the wrong way ;)
