Chem Practice Exam Scores

Heya Guys,

So I've just started doing chem practice exams with exams looming a few months away.

What kind of scores should you be aiming for for a 40+?

This is for Unit 3 practice exams.

I've done a few unit 3 STAV and NEAP (2008, 09, 10) ones,  they seemed really hard for me... I would've gotten around an average of 60-70%?

But I think for a 40+ you'll need at least 80%+ consistently (maybe more considering that chem is a prerequisite for medicine I.e. all the 'freaks' do chem haha).

Since a 40 is about a low-mid A+, you'd need between 84-90% on the real exam I think, depending on how hard it is. The A+ cut in 2009 Exam 1 was 78%, and in 2010 Exam 1 it was 90%.

like Thushan said, look at the cut offs for past vcaa exams so go download the assessment reports and grade distributions too

A to A+ will do nicely I think

Eg for the 2011 chem exam 1 paper 85+% for A+ and 79+% for A  Assessment Report

Depends on the A+ cut-off. For a 40+ you need at least low-mid A+s on your exams. Don't worry too much about your MHS SAC marks, your SACs will definitely scale up to A+ if you're normally getting at least an A anyway.
