Hi guys! I am planning to do the bachelor of science in melbourne uni and hopefully (fingers crossed) get into the prevet program. I plan on taking Chemistry 1 and 2 and Physics Fundamental, I'm not the best at school so i have to work really hard to try to get into the vet program.

Are there any students studying Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2 and Physics Fundamental right now who can give me an overview on what I will be learning so I can get a head start and start reviewing some topics now? Or possibly have some sort of syllabus? Thank you so much!!

Claudia

Are you in Year 12 still? I'd suggest you focus on getting a good ATAR (hopefully 98.5+ so that you get guaranteed Vet) and then start looking at getting a hard start. Though, if I was going to be frank, you really don't need to do pre-reading for first year, first semester subjects. They are an introduction to both the field, and to university life/studies.

I dont think it's a good idea to start reviewing Chemistry 1/2 before you finish VCE chem, it will likely be unproductive and frustrating.

physics for biomed/physics fundamentals are pretty similar and they are some of the worst first year subjects taught. Your better of learning physics on your own

Vet requires physics funds as a prereq though.
However, it were the gamsat or something i'd be inclined to agree with you- the subject really is just independent learning by trying to teach yourself with the textbook. The lectures are hopeless and tutorials are only slightly better.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

In general, I've heard bad things about teaching in first-year physics subjects across many Victorian institutions, not just UniMelb. I can vouch and say Physics 1 and 2 were learned from the book for myself. I found it useless to go to lectures.

You probably are, but if you're not taking Chemistry at school right now you need to take Fundamentals of Chemistry before Chemistry 1.

Regardless, focus on getting a good ATAR right now and try to take relevant subjects in your Year 12.
