how do you cope with burnout/over thinking?

I don't think this is the answer you're looking for, but I sleep.
I feel your next issue would be that period where sleep eludes you and you're just lying there and occasionally tossing and turning trying to find that one perfect sleeping position? And all those thoughts and feelings?
Listen to music, calming music not the *duf duf duf* music :P That way as soon as your thoughts turn to "overthinking" or stress about the exam, just follow the music and let go of those thoughts :)

Normally if this happened to me I'd have a 20min playlist that stops after the last song (no loop). If I'm still awake after the playlist I'll get up, walk around a little and relax before going back to bed and starting the process (and the playlist) again.
Eventually you'll fall asleep and once you wake up you should feel much more better and refreshed!!

Good luck and stess less! :D

EDIT/disclaimer thing/pds thing :P: This might not work for you. It works for me and usually I'm good after just one good night's sleep. However, you may prefer doing exercise (I quite like jogging but w/e) or maybe a favourite hobby will suffice to relax you (eg playing the guitar or watching tv for a bit)

Alcohol.

Nah, really, but you should rest, eat, pray(if you're into that) and love ;D

No, actually just take a deep breath and relax. Take some time off if you know you need it. Look back what you've done and analyse what you could have done better BUT also look at the positive things that you have done. Balance the negative with the positive. If you know you're thinking too much then distract yourself; learn to appreciate who you are and what you've done and stop measuring yourself to exceptionally high standards of what is acceptable or not. Look at your future goals and ask yourself what you need to do to achieve them. If you're having doubts about your capability, then pull out something that you've done and are proud of and reminisce about it. It's not wrong to occasionally look back at your good moments, but you have to learn that whilst you can look back, it's no use living in the past. But, most of all, just breathe and appreciate who you are today, who you are now because that you is an awesome you, and although he or she could be better, he/she is on her/his way to doing that. And if you're still unconvinced, learn to aim for improvement and not perfection and that with your every worry, reality proves time and time again that it's not really as bad as you think it would be.
