Persuasive Oral Presentation Help

Hey guys, I need to do a persuasive speech on  a topic that occurred in the Australian media since Sep last year. I really want to do something on technology, perhaps something about technology is desensitizing our society. But the problem is I can not find any suitable articles regarding this issue.
Anyone have any ideas/articles that come to mind?
Thanks
Mike

Not sure about technology desensitising society (plus for the year 12 oral SAC I would suggest to do something else) but I found this from November 2012: http://www.news.com.au/technology/smartphones/ways-smartphones-are-destroying-our-lives/story-fn6vihic-1226519813913 (some parts related to desensitising society but just a general complaint about dependency on technology I suppose)

OR perhaps you could discuss the issues with CCTV? At least it's technology related :P More, there's a lot of articles and resources for it.
Here's an article from May 2013 for CCTV: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-04/outrage-over-cctv-privacy-ruling/4669694

I hope that helps >_<

This is a really interesting area!

Happy to give you some tips if you like! Last year I won the Victorian Plain English Speaking Award on a speech about media, and to some extent, the influence of technology on the media (there were large elements, but it wasn't the crux...it was a three way interaction, media, technology and the public). That's also not to say that I'll necessarily be better or know what I'm talking about, but any discussion is good discussion! :D

Yah any tips will be great! I kinda have to narrow down my topic a bit according to my teacher, she doesn't like the fact that this topic might be too vague, she suggested to do something like technology on our young children etc. But I sort of want to talk about how nowadays people are sucked into their own world with phones, iPads...etc, they are becoming less and less aware of their surrenderings and harder for them to socialize.
Thanks

There's certainly a hell of a lot you can say, and a hell of a lot of evidence online. This is by no means a novel topic and has been discussed at incredible length. So first and foremost, you may want to see what other people have said previously.
Personally, I love the rule of three. This is something that has pervaded rhetoric for thousands of years. The premise is that if you're saying more than three things (more than three examples, more than three points, even listening more than three items) you're saying too much. For some reason, there's a lot of congruity in things that are in threes. So that's a good starting point. Don't extend your argument beyond three key points (and make them related), and try not to overwhelm with examples. Anything beyond three and you've lost people's attention. 99% of the time this applies well.

You have a good point though, and you have something that people will latch onto. You can sort people into two categories, those who agree with you entirely and those who are doing it. So you've got something that already relates to the audience. It'd be great though if you can give something they haven't heard before, there should be something! An enormous number of social phenomena have arisen from technology's handle over society, both as a result but also to deal with its effect. On the latter, there are now games people play when they go out to dinner wherein whoever picks up their phone first has to pay the bill. The idea is, obviously, to discourage people from using their phone and to participate in the social aspect of the dinner. There are plenty more examples like this.
