Language Analysis Help

I know everyones freaking out about year 12 english exams but i was just wondering if someone could please assist me with my Language Analysis essay writing. My teacher has told our class that we would have an outcome (not important but still...) on wednesday which to my excitement was the same day as my Hebrew exam. Although, reality is I will probably still have to write it. So, my request - can someone please give me a rundown on how to write a LA. We did them at the start of the year but I was rubbish at writing them and have forgotten everything since then. Can any of you english gurus out there tell me the basics as well as some expert tips on writing a cracker LA.

Thanks. :)

In short, words, pick up on particular words, terms and phrases and talk about the connotations and implications of them and the positioning of them on the reader.

I'm on my phone, so I can't say a lot here. Hopefully someone responds to your question in more detail.

Good luck with your Hebrew exam and LAĦ

Here's a brief rundown:
Introduction:
1. Provide some context
2. State what pieces are being analysed (ie. name of text, date, text type, author name etc).
3. Comment briefly on the author's contentions and tone.

Body paragraphs:
1. Identify: pick out what technique is used (eg. rhetorical questions)
2. Analyse the effect of the technique on the piece
3. Analyse and explain the effect on the audience.

Conclusion
1. Like introduction but I always try to comment on how effective the contention was achieved. Ie. was the "reasonable" reader persuaded? If so, why?
You have to comment on the tone, implications, purpose and context of the piece. LA is not formulaic : just comment on how you feel the piece is conveyed through the language chosen by the author. There is no mandatory structure or formula you have to follow.

I'd suggest to not center your body paragraph around the technique.
Rather than that, identify what the authors trying to do, like for example 'show the advancement of technology in a positive light to encourage the audience to embrace its development'.
THEN go on to talk about how by pointing out words and phrases that help evoke those ideas.
The assessor's report constantly says to avoid technique identification and focus on the language! :)
