I think because when he 'realised his skills would be in great demand in NT ' instead of stressful, it was perceived as benign/positive instead.

Hey thanks Damoz :) and aha it's a good trial exam!
And jacky, ahkay but wouldn't secondary appraisal better explain reason for him taking the job, since secondary appraisal is when' you look start thinking of the resources to coping with the situation ?

that is true, but secondary appraisal would only occur if, initially you had perceived it as 'stressful'
If what I said is correct (he perceived it as positive/benign), then technically secondary appraisal would never occur.
(this is just how I see it but yeah, better off asking a past student or something)

edit: i guess this could also be considered 're-appraisal' but since that wasn't an option, primary would be the next best thing

I think you might be looking an an older version of the answers. I just had a look at my copy that my teacher gave me today, and it says "Secondary Appraisal; Problem focused coping" (Option C).

May be ask your teacher for the latest copy of the solutions?
