Number of prac. exams

Hi guys

I'm just feeling really overwhelmed and stressed right now, and I don't really know if this is the right place to post this.

I know the spesh exam is more than a month away, but I feel like there's not enough time because I have school soon and 4 other subjects to study for. I guess most of my worries stems from the fact that I probably won't have enough time to complete a sufficient number of prac. exams. How many do you guys plan to do? What is a good amount if I want to get, say, an A on both exams? I know the number of practice exams isn't really a good indicator on how well I'll do on the day, but I want to know how many I should aim to do.

Thank you

Be methodical and determined. Tonight, decide how many exams you want to do and plan them out. Tell yourself you're going to do 3 (or 4) per week. That's not even one per second day - You can do it!

Then be stern, and honest with yourself. However many you decide to do, make sure you do them. Good luck :)

In total, most were exam 2s, but bear in mind that methods was my only subject in year 11.

By the way, how much harder are company exams than VCAA ones? This close to exams, should we put most of our focus on VCAA exams or mix in some company ones too?

(btw, which companies have the most challenging ones?)

I always did 2-3 trials, then a vcaa. 2-3 trials, then a vcaa. That way I could gauge improvement. Kilbaha is definitely the hardest exam which is fair. Heffernan and MAV are more on par with vcaa :)

If you're pushed for time and stressed, I suggest you only do the VCAA papers. The course has barely changed since 2002 so that's plenty.

Trial papers are good to do if you have plenty of time, otherwise, stick to the VCAA ones.

Feeling pretty unprepared at the moment; I've done about 5 of each exam, but comparing with what I did last year for methods, I'm starting to get worried. Any stories of people doing well without a whole lot of practice exams? Need a confidence boost...

Rather than trying to do the minimum amount of exams possible i think you should really try and do as much as you can before the exams. You will start seeing patterns with the exams and they become very formulaic, especially vcaa ones. Try set yourself a task each morning when you wake up and tell yourself that you will do it. I recommend 1 set a day (1 exam 1 and 1 exam 2). Trust me, if you do the minimum amount, after the exam you will regret not doing more. I hope you do well and good luck.
