I know there's the other post, but I don't want to see what other people have written and freak myself out haha. Sooo here's a post without answers people wrote.

I just wanted to know what you all thought of the exam.
Time wise, what questions didn't you like, do you think you stuffed any up, are you confident. Anything really.

By what I read/how I feel, I think I stuffed a few of the SA up.
Taxi one, hemispheric specialisation, possibly a few more.
I liked MC.
Section C was a surprise and I think it would have confused a few people

Wise idea - my teacher was sitting outside the examination room with the exam in his hand and was going through it with all of us afterwards - i kind of just walked away, i don't want to think about it until i have to.

I thought it was a lot easier than I expected, i was expecting a lot more on the neural basis of learning and memory, particularly because it wasn't covered last year and would be a question that would distinguish A+ students from B+ students. Timewise was fine, I did the short answers first and had planned my multiple answers during reading time and did them second, which left me with about 45 minutes to write a plan for the extended response and then wrote it!

I agree, section C is going to have a poor average mark across the state just because of how easily it could have been to misinterpret the question!

I found it okay, but I was rushed for time.

Multiple Choice was very easy for me.

Didn't like these Short-Answer Questions:
* Question 3 - The lady with French and the effect on Brain structures.
* Question about the Hempisheric Specialisation
* Allostasis Question

I think I did bad for the Extended Response. I stuffed up Question 5, and then had to change it around but I didn't finish changing it. =/

Yeah I didn't like the French one either.
Not sure how I went on section C. I did what it said but might lose a couple marks. Ah well it's done now.

i read the clock wrong and panicked and rushed some of the short answer and the extended response, and then realised i still had an extra half hour left.  :-[
managed to go back and rewrite stuff though so it wasn't too bad i guess. don't think i did amazingly, but hopefully i did ok

did anyone else think it was really heavily focused on memory stuff?  ???

Yeah i noticed that too. There wasn't much on learning. I was expecting an observational learning question or something

There was an Observational Learning Question, but it was a Multiple Choice Question. Remember Harry and Max or something? The five year old learning by observation how to setup a Home Entertainment system.

I laughed when I read that. :P

Ah, yeah. I thought there'd be one with the elements or something too.

I guess I'm feeling slightly more confident seeing how many people slipped up on the research report.
Would they really take it into consideration seeing how many people slipped up?
Most of the questions I was iffy about, other people are too. So I'm not the only one :D

Well, they might be a bit more lenient in their marking, or the A+ Cutoff will just drop a bit more to adjust accordingly.

Ah I feel so lost already! Psych wasn't just a subject for me, but a passion. Can't wait to do it at uni.
Feels so weird.

Can someone give me an example of what they wrote for the extended response... Just worried I stuffed mine all up!

Take mine with a grain of salt.

- Set P-value at < 0.05.
- 60 HS students conveniently sampled
- control group: no sleep deprivation, experimental group: 24 hours sleep deprivation and some students 2 hours of sleep deprivation (8 - 2= 6 hrs).
- don't know too much about research methods, etc, so I went ahead and did random sample, picking out of the hat to whichever group and independent groups.
- extraneous variables could be control group taking sleeping pill to sleep longer, experimental group taking amphetamines or something or caffeine.
- could be controlled by having them in the lab with direct observation all the time.

I think my main concern was going through the multiple choice quickly. Scared I'm going to lose heaps of marks from missing important words.
Or did anyone else do it really quickly because they found them easy?

I found them pretty easy, but I spent 50 minutes on them.

How quickly did you do them?

Can't remember exactly but like, 35-40 minutes possibly. I flew through them. As soon as I read the question I knew the answer and then selected it after reading the answers.
