Hey guys

The assessment report for 2011 exam 2 doesn't explain how the answer for question 1.e in Module 3 was obtained.

Can someone explain? Cheers

The question is asking for the maximum weight of trail mix. The trail mix is made up of x almonds and y raisins. So, the objective is x+y.

So, what you'll do is find the coordinates of the vertices of the feasible region, sub them into your objective function, and find the maximum weight he can take, whilst still within the set constraints.

Hope this helped :)

Its okay :)

Just remember to think of it logically. If a question like that asked, that you needed 600g minimum for a trail mix, you would think, okay, well x grams of almonds + y grams of raisins would must equal 600g or be greater than 600g. Again, you would then need to satisfy the relevant constraint.

All the best for tomorrow!!
