Driving and Restraining Forces

Would anyone be able to help me out with both definitions and application of all the driving and restraining forces in the study design? I have no idea. Thx.

Which text book do you have?

Driving Forces are factors that provide the organisation with the abillity to proceed with the change, an example of the driving force is the abillity to have enough financial reserves in order to successfully make change occur, such as paying money to those resistors in order for their support or SILENCE.

on the other hand Restraining forces are factors that prevent the possibility of successfully changing the organisations to its new foreseeable working environment, examples of these are as such:
-Organisational inertia
-management procrastination
-inability to have sufficient financial reserves.


have a look at Kurt lewin's force field analysis, should make what i said clearer.

Simpler definitions:
Driving forces are forces that initiate, encourage and support change. eg. changing customer preferences
Restraining forces are those that work against change, causing resistance. eg. organisational inertia
