GMA's honestly a really enjoyable subject :)

Does anyone else have a hard time studying for bio 3&4 ?
I find it difficult to express myself in my answers :(

Every school has a different GMA curriculum. In general, there's only certain topics which are required to be covered in GMA, but apart from that each school can learn different mathematical concepts.
Yeah that's true, and not everything is relevant to 3/4

oddly, since your not doing GMA at school, I'd suggest only doing the relevant stuff for specialist. Otherwise, you'd just be wasting time (unless you like GMA). I do enjoy it myself, btw.

Oh, at least that's good (:
Um we are to cover Vectors, Algebra (again..), Variation, Circle Geometry, Sequences & Series, Complex Numbers/Polar coordinates, Loci, Kinematics, Dynamics & Statics.
Oh hey that's really similar to my school only we're going through more topics as well (like reciprocal trigonometric functions and coordinate geometry).

Every school has a different GMA curriculum. In general, there's only certain topics which are required to be covered in GMA, but apart from that each school can learn different mathematical concepts.

Important topics to cover:
Topics in GMA Relevant for Specialist Maths
• Vectors
• Algebra (also draw from Methods knowledge)
• Quadratics and rates (also in Methods 1+2 textbooks)
• Partial Fractions
• Complex Numbers (i, cis, z=x+yi, de Moivre's, etc.)
• Dynamics (forces, equilibrium, coefficient of friction, etc.)
• Kinematics (displacement, velocity, acceleration, etc.)
• Loci (and associated graphs)
• Trig (rules, identities and graphs)
• Angles (all those rules and circle geometry -none of the 'bisecting a line with a protractor' rubbish though)
• Shapes (volumes, surface areas, ratios, 3D vs 2D, etc.)

You may feel that some of those topics are not obvious ones to cover but they do help in various proofs and learning how to do things quickly. eg1. topics such as "angles" can aid in vector proofs, eg2. knowing the theory presented in the "loci" chapters can lead to many tips and tricks when sketching graphs on the complex plane, eg3. partial fractions is important when integrating certain functions :)

I don't think that we cover the last few topics that you mentioned there but I think, because we both go to selective schools, they might teach similar topics for GMA anyway.

Yesterday we had a 'surprise' Methods test lol

It isn't a SAT right? I'm having a 'test' on the holiday homework for methods coming up soon, although the teacher is keeping the date a secret.

Do you know which topics you cover in GMA?
[/quote]

The topics my school cover are Vectors, Mechanics, Complex numbers, Geometry, Trig, Arithmetic, Algebra, Graphs of Linear and Non-linear Functions
2014:Environmental science, Classical Studies
2015: English, Methods, Specialist, Chemistry, Economics

Is this the only Class Of 2015 thread? 2016 is already more popular :O
2013 - [CCNA] [CCNP]

2015 - Chemistry - Biology

2016 - English - Methods - Specialist Maths

LOL I'd vouch that the Class of 2017 thread would overtake us all ;O
But yeah why not get the ball rolling for our year? How's everyone's holidays been so far? Getting a lot of work done? ;D
