increase in difficulty from 1+2

How much harder does it get?
How much more content is there(extension of previous as well as new)?
Time commitment? How much time do you put in outside class?

thanks

^LOL. i was like that last year...it's worth it! do it!
it's waay easier than last year --> provided that you have a solid education in the basics of motion and electronics. It's mainly plugging in the formula (90%) , a bit of theory (10%).

What about homework, is there much?

that's up to you.
if you have solid grasp of basic maths(algebra, trig) then physics won't be hard, as methodsboy said it's 90% subbing numbers into formulas.

Thats good just checking.
The areas of study are
unit 3
-motion
-?
-detailed study

unit 4
-photonics
-electricity
-detailed study

correct?

Not quite.

Unit 3:
- motion
- electricity
- detailed study

I think unit 4 is more fun than unit 3. [mainly cause of electricity which annoyed me]

That I agree. Light as a wave-particle duality model is quite intriguing

not exactly, as with every other VCE subject, hw should always be completed by the set date and never fall behind! Also, it is imperative that you regularly do the relevant checkpoints questions once you have completed the relevant theory to give you an idea of the difficulty of exam style questions that are expected to come up in the examination that lies ahead. As physics is a science, as are bio and chem, attention must be given to this subject in order to yield your maximum result, what ever that may be.
hope that helps  :)

Siff, magnetism is awesome...

I agree Unit 4 > Unit 3 in terms of interesting content. Light and matter, magnetism and sound owns the stuff we did in electronics, motion and further electronics (which were half covered in Unit 2 anyway last year). That's not to say motion and electronics aren't interesting, it's just that the stuff we did seemed too simple and repetitive after a while.
