Yep, Information Privacy Act 2000 is applicable to Goverment agencies or organisations contracted to them in victoria.

Eg: there was a question on the Apps exam this year about a Goverment school in Victoria, we had to indicate what act it fell under.
If this school was not a government school in VIC then it would fall under the Privacy Act 1988 but as it is, it was the Information Privacy act 2000.

Okay, so if there was a local milk bar that was asking for private information about customers, it would fall under the Privacy Act 1988 because it is not contracted under the Government?
