do I need to bring something that has my student ID number on it? I really don't want to have to bring in a piece of paper because then they'll tell me off???

A license is OK and IIRC a permit is too, but if you have nothing they'll take your photo and get you to prove your ID later. It'll be fine :)

No, you shouldn't have to. People forget things all the time, if they had no protocol in place for when accidents like this happened there'd be people failing left and right for no good reason. That said, knowing your student number is probably important (but I'd be v. surprised if you didn't).

on the site it says "bring an alternative form of picture identification (e.g. passport or driver’s license) and a copy of your enrolment record." :/

What??????? I don't think that's mandatory, I know people that have forgotten their card and certainly didn't take their enrolment record to the exam with them. Do you have access to a printer?  :o

Phew ok that's good. I've seen two different pages one saying you just need an alternative form of an id and the other saying your enrolment record- however I can imagine they can simply search this online. Since the link to the official melbourne exam page says alternative form of ID than i'll just bring my passport and hope for the best.

I *think* a learners permit is fine, and then they might take a photo of you & get you to see your student centre after the exam.

Passport's ok for me to bring
I thought they only take a photo when you have no id with you?
