I know your in the middle of learning it now.
But, is there anything I can start on this year to get a better standing for next year?
I am doing advanced general, and have heard that it does not reflect difficulty at all.

many ppl, for example daniel, are doing spesh this year without completing GMA 1/2 and they are coping fine with spesh...just relax and enjoy yr11 then when year 12 comes..study ur ass off!

From personal experience, those who don't do physics may find dynamics/mechanics hard later on. But since you seem to do physics later in year 12, I think those chapters are gonna be easy.

Maybe get an early start on integration, vectors and complex numbers.

I think you need to have a good vectors foundation as it also appears later in the essentials spesh book with vector calculus etc. Complex numbers are important too.

The way I see it I have spare time this year and year 12 won't have much spare time.
Anything I can start this year will alleviate stress and workload, creating a more controlled
and efficient learning effort, the reward being better results.
And I enjoy a challenge, especially something like this(Maths).
Thank you all I will certainly try and look into these areas.

Yep, definitely learn vectors well this year. That came to bite me back in the end =\

Find questions in the Specialist maths book related to the things you are learning in GMA and do a few of them.

I did a bit of what wombifat is saying and I think it helped. I mainly did for trig and complex numbers, that stuff should be reasonably easy to handle if you have done the GMA stuff.

I never did General Maths Advanced, mainly becuase I think that our school does not offer the course, only methods. From my experience, I think that if your do physics, then vectors will initially be easier to understand, so it will be easier. It is of course better if you have done General Advanced. Complex Numbers are not really that difficult. either. If you are decent at understanding algebra and graphing, then you will be fine.

Of course, overall, you should do all the study you can.

Hardest part of the course is at the beginning of the course. All of the calculus is based on a few simple principles.

With physics 3/4 helping with specialist maths dynamics it sort of shows why a few things work, but, it doesn't really help.

VCE physics takes a very basic look at dynamics, once, you do university physics you look at physics problems in a specialist maths context.
