How can prepare for ENGLISH yr11 and yr12 ?

I am in yr 10 and I want to prepare for english over the school holidays..... problem is i don't have the slightest clue on what I will need to study for Yr11 and 12 english.

for year eleven.
read your newspapers. read your texts more than twice. have a list of words you might like to use in your persuasive or expository essays. rote learn essay structure - in year twelve, things go hybrid so that doesn't really matter. but for year eleven, schools tend to stick to a particular structure.

I'm going to be in Yr 11 next year too 
Read your texts and make a list of quotes under major themes and characters. Maybe have a look for some study guides in the library or online.

Develop your own unique style for writing. This is key in any successful English student. Now is the best time for you to do that as you have the freedom of experimenting with your writing, without constantly having the "score" on your back.

Reading articles in the newspaper, particularly opinion pieces, might the first step towards developing your style, as previously suggested. After that, it's all up to you. That's what makes such a discovery fun.

I must say that throughout this year I've done so, and failed in many instances. It is only now that I begin to notice how mistakes have helped form the basis to what I write.

Remember that ultimately your style of writing is what will set you apart from everyone else in VCE and even later in life. It's not something you can ROTE learn or get a tutor to force upon yourself. I urge you to step up to it; it's something this generation needs to develop and cherish.

Yr 11 is a critical point. For that, I could only suggest that you write practice essays <--- it's bulletproof. If, by the end of Yr11 you are still struggling with certain areas, contact an English tutor who can help you to refine these issues.

Yeah, newspapers are the way to go. My friend was getting average marks for English until he started to read a little bit of the newspaper. He started to top the class in most of the assessments.

I second all this--in both English and Lit it's all about having a unique voice when writing, and also understanding where your strengths and weaknesses lie. With the Creating & Presenting area of study, it's also a good idea to begin honing in on which format you want to specialise in--creative, persuasive, expository. I'm not sure if every other school does it this way but at mine by the middle of year 11 we've chosen our "best" C&P format and focus mostly on that.
