There's a surprising amount of work involved. I wouldn't really call it a kick back subject, although it's not as content-heavy as say, Biology or Psych. If you don't want to shoot films you may be in a bit of strife. This year for the unit 1/2, we shot films, and I end up doing all of the work because my group wasn't interested. Films are done in groups (usually) in Units 1 and 2, although I also did another short film on my own this year for an assessment. In the Unit 3/4, there is a large amount of responsibility put on your shoulders. You have to take it into your own hands to get things done, and if you choose film as your SAT assessment, you do it on your own. You obviously can "hire" actors and such, but you need to prepare shot lists, call sheets, storyboards, a detailed script in the correct format, a film treatment, a brainstorm etc. Loads of research is put into this. I'm actually going to start sewing all my costumes over the holidays, and a friend of mine who is actually an actress has volunteered to act as the main character, so I'm pretty stoked.

Also, they're usually written. The ones based off of films are still written. You can't actually watch the film whilst doing the SAC, so you need to watch the productions you're studying several times in preparation.
