Perhaps the current system can be modified such that it records two scores, one that's displayed on user profile pages as normal, and then a hidden one that's used to rank the tutoring page. For the hidden one, you could only have selected boards contributing to it. That way you only have a single set of upvote/downvote arrows to use.

I have moved all the results threads (of all time - I think) to that board! :) University Results Discussion
