What? Failed two units.
(1/1)
happycat:
I failed two units for zoology in my second year. Next year I'll be in 3rd year. I'm doing Bacelor of Biological Sciences. Only enough I got reasonably good results for my other units. It seems that Zoology is very harsh in its approach to marking whereas other subjects like botany, genetics etc. are not so bad. Question is why the discrepancy? What should I do? I have no intentions of repeating the failed units. Perhaps I should major in something else like botany instead.
Hancock:
Was your original major Zoology?
MJRomeo81:
Were the zoology units core in the degree? If they are core then you need to complete them next year in order to graduate from that degree (this is where you would weigh up your options about a different major).
As for the discrepancy, it really depends on the lecturers / department policies. Pot luck at the end of the day unfortunately.
My advice - stick with what you enjoy. Results aren't everything. What's the point of achieving straight As in a field you don't enjoy? An undergrad degree doesn't mean too much. It's either a stepping stone to postgrad or a way for you to land your first job. After that, your undergrad results are largely irrelevant.

My original plan was zoology but I think it might be botany now. I also like botany so all good.
