Need advices for Master of Engineering program

Anyone going to graduate from engineering systems major in June 2014?
Some of my friends said that it is better to wait until the following year (Feb 2015) for MEng because mid year intake to MEng will take longer than two years? Any opinions?
I know that the entry requirement is 65% in the last two years, but does that 65% really guarantee entry into the program? How competitive is the admission to MEng?
Also, is it really impossible to get a job only with 3-year BSc? Has anyone gotten some work experience before continuing to master degree?
Thanks in advance!! =)

I heard that it is impossible to get a job in engineering with the BSc. May be an internship, but that is very difficult.

Your friends might be right, I have heard the same thing, but it's possible it depends on your stream and when the core subjects are offered (usually postgraduate subjects are only offered in either Semester 1 OR Semester 2, this has the potential to mess with your study plan.  Sorry I can't give you a more concrete answer - others might be able to.

Yes, it's guaranteed entry if you meet the 65% requirement.  So competitiveness isn't really a factor AFAIK (I haven't heard anything about quotas, anyway).

In Engineering, if you actually want to be an Engineer? Yes.  You need the certification that comes with the Masters degree.
In any other industry, well, yeah, almost impossible without at least Honours.

Unpaid?  Definitely, but seems a bit wasteful, just do the Masters and do unpaid internships/work experience in the holiday breaks...
Paid?  Less likely, but not impossible.  But you will be doing true lackey work.

I was going to graduate in June 2014, but I decided to underload over two semester and have a chill year while getting some more mulah (money). You can find work experience as a 2nd year, but you have to take whatever you get. I was very very fortunate to get an internship building and designing a prototype forklift using Solidworks (CAD) and 3d printing. Which is fucking awesome. It is also paid so that's a plus.

In terms of you starting your M.E. in June instead of next January, you'll most likely take 2.5 years which means you'll finish at the same time as you would if you started in January. This is because Master level courses only run in specific semesters. So it is really up to you. I'd suggest you start in January and have 6 months off, because you'll finish your M.E. at the same time anyway.

On another note, which specialisation are you doing for your engineering?
