About the levels thing. You only have to do 87.5 points' worth of level-1 subjects, so you can do higher level subjects in first year. The student centre said I could do 110-280, but I got approved for 110-354, anyway.

Ok, well I'm following the Accounting + Finance plan in the subject guide, and it says we get one Breadth subject per semester. I'm doing Corporate Law (level 2) this semeseter, in hopes of starting 126-126 German Beginners Language and Culture A next semester (2010 sem 1), and then following it for three semesters (all level 1), completing Taxation Law (last req. for accounting accreditation - level 3) in Year 3, sem 2. Do you think this will work? I believe it satisfies all the breadth requirements, and the rest of my course is already chosen by the plan.

When you say 'and then following it for three semesters (all level 1)', is 126-126 included in one of those three semesters or not? If so, it should be fine. Since you're doing a level-2 subject now, you'll end up with 10 level-1 subjects, which is the maximum allowed, but still fine. You'll also meet the minimum breadth requirement of 6. Looks good to me. :)

I think the ones we have to follow are:
Level-1:
min: 7 max: 8
Level-3:
min: 6
Breadth:
min: 6 max: 8

Can somebody tell me when 1pm classes start? Last sem, my ARA tute said specifically 1:15pm. This sem, accounting tutes say 1:00pm. I have a macro tute at that time, but since they don't bother putting the times, will it start at 1:00 or 1:15?

Yeah my breadth will be something like this:
Year 1
Sem 1 - PBL
Sem 2 - Corporate Law (preq. PBL)
Year 2
Sem 1 - 126-126 German Beginners Language and Culture A
Sem 2 - 126-127 German Beginners Language and Culture B
Year 3
Sem 1 - 126-005 German Intermediate Language & Culture A
Sem 2 - Taxation Law

Yep, that's fine. Why not 670-231 or 670-233, though, may I ask?

Well 670-233 German Intermediate Cultural Studies requires German Intermediate Language & Culture A and I wouldn't have done it by then.

What is the difference between 670-231 and 126-005? They have different levels, does that mean one is more advanced?

EDIT: Oh wait

Quote
This subject is only available at first year level for students commencing the intermediate language stream. Students enrolled in the beginners stream should enrol at second year level.

I should therefore enrol at second year right?

EDIT2: Just checked out the Acc + Fin major course plan, and found that  you do two breadth in Year 2, semester 2 and none in Year 3 semester 1 (it has an option for breadth, but I would rather do a core program elective like Econometrics for Honors)
Therefore my breadth plan is more like:
Year 1
Sem 1 - PBL
Sem 2 - Corporate Law (preq. PBL)
Year 2
Sem 1 - 126-126 German Beginners Language and Culture A
Sem 2 - 126-127 German Beginners Language and Culture B
            Taxation Law
Year 3
Sem 1 - Nothing
Sem 2 - 670-231 German Intermediate Language & Culture A

Oh, sorry. The German subject names are confusing to me. :S (In Japanese, it's just 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B..)

In Japanese, they also have it where multiple codes correspond to the same subject (110-142, 110-280, 110-354). The email response I got was "There are 3 levels within J1B. Which one to choose? My understanding is if you are 1st yr student, then take level 1 (110142), 2nd yr, level 2, and the rest, level 3. However, I suggest you should go to your student centre to clarify this." However, there's this kind of warning thing on lms. "Students should be aware that there is a Faculty policy on marks for first, second and third year subjects. Students should note that it may be necessary to scale marks in some subjects at the end of semester to comply with Faculty requirements." I have no idea what it means. So maybe the content is the same, but they scale it differently in the end? Not too sure..

EDIT: Yep, you should enrol in 670-231, then.

hmmm one of the classes on my timetable seems to have spontaneously changed, from an 11 to a 3:15 class... both sessions are full. Do you think the student centre will be able to put me back into the original time (since this is the time I chose)? :(

They changed three of my classes without me knowing last sem. Only way to change is tute swap, or pure luck.
