Law Transfer - Monash

Just wondering if anyone has any anecdotal evidence of the marks required to get an internal transfer into Law after a year?

I'm not neccessarily saying this is what I want to do, not at all.

On the website it says you need 70% average, but with competition being very high, marks required are generally higher.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for an internal transfer into law, students must have:

    * Completed one or more years of a Monash degree (ie. a minimum of 48 credit points) and
    * Achieved a distinction average or better (70%+) across all Monash units for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), or
    * Achieved a credit average or better (60%+) across all Monash units for an international full-fee place

Important Note: The above averages are the minimum entry criteria to be eligible to apply.  Entry to law courses via internal transfer is a very competitive process and the actual average required depends on the number and standard of applications received each year.

Anyone?

I've seen people get into law double degrees with 78 averages.

Though in my sickness-induced-euphoria i'm not going to say that 78 was the exact number, but i know for sure it was high 70's.

I'd say that you'd want an HD average to be competitive...

I know a few people who have transferred into law, and they all only needed a distinction average. I'm not sure exactly where in the distinction range though. But definitely no need for a high distinction.

I also have a friend who is in full fee commerce/law and trying to transfer into HECS (she started before they were abolished) and all she needs is a 70 average. But then again that kind of transfer is probably a lot less competitive.

They also ask for VCE results so I'm guessing they look at your ENTER true?

Really?
Most of the time Monash doesn't seem to care about your ENTER once you've got some sort of uni results available.

Aww... get well soon~ :)

All sections of the application form must be completed accurately and returned to Law Student Services. You must give us a transcript of results  (ENTER, VCE or equivalent Year 12) that has been certified as being a true copy of the original transcript. To do this, bring in your original transcript and a copy and a Student Services officer will certify it on the spot, or take your original and copy to an acceptable signatory for certification.

Not sure how much weighting they give to those results though.

I need to speak to someone... maybe I should look into doing this UniLearn methods bridging course so I can apply for Commerce/Law... sigh. Life = decisions. Decisions = annoying

so I can apply for Commerce/Law

With your results I think you'd be a shoe-in :) (especially your commercial law result)
