Clayton Residential Move In

Hey guys. So I'm going to be moving in to the dorms at Clayton for my course this year and I was wondering why the standard move in date is the 15th of Feb. I had a look at the Monash Calendar and it says that orientation begins on the 24th, so is there something that goes on near the 15th or? My parents don't want me to move out until I absolutely have to, so they said I should move in around the 22nd, 23rd instead. I'm a complete n00b so I have no idea how this process works, so any help is appreciated!

I'm guessing Monash might want you guys to have a bit of time to get used to the dorms/make some friends etc. before orientation/classes start which I guess would be quite nice...
