Just wondering what is the overseas equivalent for Methods. For example, what is the equivalent of Methods in the US or UK. Also, is Methods equivalent to Calculus 1 and/or Calculus 2.

Thank you

In the UK they have GCE. You can compare past papers for their mathematics course with VCAA's math methods CAS in the following two links.

For America... I'm not too sure. As i understand they have a few assessment authorities around the country - I think google is the best helper there.

Hope that helps. :)

The A-Level Mathematics course fully encompasses Maths Methods, and goes beyond it, apart from probability which for them is one of three optional modules.

The US situation is slightly more complicated - I'd say AP Calculus AB is the closest thing, but that does not include probability again. There is a course syllabus for AP Calc here.

Assuming that by Calculus 1 and Calc 2 you mean the UoM courses, a study score of 25 in Methods is a prerequisite for entry into Calculus 1, and it is roughly equivalent to Spesh. Calculus 2 requires Spesh and/or Calculus 1.
