but hard:(
How would you :

"account for the difference between the measured pH of ethanoic acid and hydrochloric acid"

the more it ionise'?

The pH of HCl will be much lower than ethanoic acid because in HCl solution the is much larger than those in ethanoic acid. Hence pH is lower.

splits more readily into and than splits into and

Sulfuric acid is diprotic and HCl is monoprotic

So that means even though the concentration is the same, there will be double the amount of in the sulfuric acid soluion


EDIT: Sorry for the double post, didnt realise his question was before my answer to the previous one :S
