Summer Breadth and GPA

Hey guys,

I just had a quick question. For your GPA calculation, you know how first year is x1, 2nd year x2 and 3rd year is x3 in terms of how much each year contributes to your GPA? How does it work if you do a summer/ mid year breadth? For example i plan to do a breadth in the winter break and im currently doing a summer breadth. Would these 2 be my 3rd year scores or would the breadths i do during semester 1 and semester 2 in my 2nd year go towards 3rd year?

I know that sounds completely confusing but if someone could decipher it that would be great.

Thanks

If you're talking about a GPA for a graduate medicine course, the GPA sticky explains this scenario of non typically organised subjects (count backwards).
If not, it will depend on what you're applying for specifically and how they opt to calculate things

Thanks for that Russ, i have read the sticky before but i must of just glanced over that part as i didn't recall seeing it. If that is the case, i assume that the 6 subjects from 3rd year will be part of my 3rd year calculation for my gpa and that my highest 2 scoring subjects from my 2nd semester of 2nd year will go towards 3rd year? Since im doing 4 subjects at the same time i assume that is how they do it to maximize my gpa. Please correct me if im wrong.

Thanks

Just on the topic of GPAs does anyone know if the last two subs from the earliest 200 points i.e. 1st/2nd year actually don't count? GEMSAS says you need all 300 points in calculation, but the UOM GPA guide thingy says the lowest two subs can be disregarded? Thanks heaps!

Melbourne GPA thing is only used for internal submissions to some speciality degrees such as Honours. Never delete any grades from your calculation when working out your average.

I was under the impression that regular GPA for the bulk of postgraduate courses excluded your worst 25 points from your first 200?

I'm not aware that it is used by the majority of courses. Regardless, this practise isn't used anywhere else in any other university, so it isn't good form if you're going to chuck stuff on a CV/Resume or use it to calculate your GPA for things like Medicine / Engineering / Law schools.
