That way it'll only search AN and give you a good chance of what you want to find (most of the time when I'm looking for something it comes up in the first three links). The AN search feature has been crap for a while, but since using google and added the extra text works pretty well, there isn't really much need to fix the search feature when there's another option that already works well.
e.g. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=google+searchs+ite&oq=google+searchs+ite&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65l2j69i60l3.2471j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#q=2014+Monash+subject+choice+Thread+site:atarnotes.com

Has AN admins considered simply removing the current search and replacing it with a google search which just searches the forums in this case? Seems like it would save the admin team the hassle of making their own search feature and there would be vast improvements.
I too dislike the current search feature on this site. One of the first worst I have ever experienced on a site and it tends to ruin the user experience at times.

You can do that by selecting the drop down box net to the search and selecting Google.

You know, one easy solution would be to get rid of the "search site" option entirely. If we just had the search bar that automatically put a google search with AN restrictions on it, new users would be taken straight to google instead of being put off from searching the site (and asking repetitive questions lelel).

I've done what I can to improve the search function and still be able to seamlessly upgrade SMF. Not sure how much, if any, it will actually improve... But there's always the Google option in the search dropdown.
