organic chemistry
empirical formula C3H4O3
This compound is a carboxylic acid
0.262g of compound reacts with 17.86ml of 0.25M NaOH
mol of NaOH reacted is 0.004465
Possible molecular formula of compound?
Possible structure?

Ok not sure if my solution is correct; but this is my shot!

n(NaOH) / 3 = n(carboxylic acid) = 0.001488333 mol
Mr = 0.262/0.001488333 = 176.0 g/mol

Mr(C3H4O3) = 88 g/mol

176/88 = 2

Therefore, molecular formula = C6H8O6
