Hey guys well i've been trying to do this modulation in physics wth signals, and i'm not doing so well at it. How am i supposed to do this modulation and demodulation? how do i know what shape it has? i'm a bit lost with it. Please help.
Modulation is the process by which an input information signal is included in a carrier wave signal. Think about it like this. When someone speaks into a microphone, the information input signal is the sound. Let's say that it has a sinusodial shape. To modulate this signal, we include this sinusodial-shaped information signal in a carrier wave. This carrier wave looks something like this (/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/). When you include the two together, it becomes a modulated signal.
In terms of fibre-optic wires, the modulated signal can then pass across the fibre-optic wire. Then, demodulation of the signal occurs. This is the process by which the input information signal is removed from the carrier wave, usually then amplified and in the case of the microphone, would come out as an amplified sound through the speakers.
Hope this helped
