Detailed Study Advice?
PhoenixFire:
Hello fellow Frenchians!
So our teachers have been pretty vague so far on what the detailed study is like and how we should prepare for it (we still haven't got our topic :/).
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this? Maybe share your experience?
Thanks heaps! :D

Hey there :)
I can't speak for French, but I did Indo, which I'm assuming would be quite similar in terms of detailed study structure. As soon as you get your detailed study topic, definitely do as much research as possible, and pick out your 3 main topics (not sure if French does this, but Indo does). If you see any good phrases/vocabulary in the resources you use, note them down. Brainstorm possible detailed study questions that could be asked, so that you can draft responses that include awesome, sophisticated vocabulary and are detailed enough. (I'd also recommend doing this for your general conversation as well). After getting research and the drafting process out of the way, memorize those answers ! :) The above is what I did to help me prepare for the oral exam, hope it helps ! :)

Merci beaucoup! I shall look for some awesome, sophisticated vocab and phrases!

Hey!
Each school generally gives their class a theme to work on, under which you pick individual topics that you research in depth, prepare a (flawless) 2 minute introduction and prepare for questions on.
Examples include "La Belle Époque" a period in France of cultural and economic change. Sometimes it might be on Europe in general etc.
Given you have months and months to prepare, it should really be nailed down by the end of August the latest...
I don't know why your teachers would keep it vague, there's no logic/advantage to that!
Blues Fan:
Same with me last year. Make sure you bug your teacher to find out
what the topic is. If the teacher is really vague or has no clue,
I suggest to find a topic that you like and ask your teacher if you can get
a head start on that topic. It is not too late to start now, but I would definitely
recommend that you start asap.
Oral exam is in October which is about 4 months away. This includes researching,
writing out, practicing and polishing! Also, you will have two or one SACs on
your chosen topic. So you will have to put in a bit of hard work!!
I was in the same situation as you. My teacher wasn't so decisive, so I found
a topic I wanted to do and pretty much researched it on my own with the guidance of my tutor.
